Before we end up our sustainable month we would like to end the blogs of the month with another note on landscaping and outdoor living areas!
Low maintenance lawns and patios are Sustainable landscapes!
Planting native forest or plants are the way to go ALWAYS for a great garden.
Plants, shapes, colors, and textures, became the complement and mastering for all the information my grandmother tough once. From there, I start a solid knowledge of landscaping, green design, sustainability, and different climates. In my opinion, all those subjects need to blend perfectly in order to have the perfect outdoor retreat.
Native plants are made for the soil where your home is and will demand less water irrigation, so actually, you will lower your water bill. Not only that, but take into consideration that native plants will grow and develop amazing beautiful due to the fact it is on its soil condition and a blooming plant will increase the traffic from birds, butterflies, bees, and all the beautiful insects that our life in this planet possible.
I consider myself on the romantic side when it comes to landscaping, gardens and outdoor living areas. Why? because I truly think we experience outdoor differently as we do the interiors. The human begin interacts more deeply with nature, lighting, texture, and colors better when they are outdoors. So if you are one of the luckiest ones that have a garden or back yard done from me; you always find:
Lighting: Artificial (bulbs or lighting fixtures as accents) and natural.
Pathways: Well defined and in different materials.
Texture: I love to see different textures in plant and materials for hardscape. to bring balance to the spaces we are creating.
Color: You need to make eye-appealing contrasts. Hey! we all need some fun! right?
Living areas: it's important that we coexist, without harming the plants and the many animals and insects that can find your back yard as home. So, well-defined areas can bring that joy for all, as and nature we are enjoying.
Finally, Plants! haha.
Stay tuned for more and more tips on interior design and landscaping!
